| A Few Customer Reviews
The shadow knows (and so will you!) The rush of analysis of the Bush presidency goes on and on. Ron Susskind, author of former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill's tome, "The Price of Loyalty," now offers more insights into the current administration. In this case, he delivers the goods on the inner workings of the intelligence community in the aftermath of 9/11. Though it has its touchpoints with the controversies that occupy the public and the media, this book focuses more on the day-to-day struggles and occasional victories of the CIA, FBI and others whose job it is to lose sleep keeping the rest of us safe.
Governing Scared The world's largest military and the world's most extensive intelligence gathering network are being run by people with poor decision-making skills. The philosophy of Dick Cheney, which has permeated many levels of the command structure is that if there is even a single percentage chance that something is true, we must treat it as fact.
The True War The One Percent Doctrine by Ron Suskind, Published by Simon and Schuster, 2006, 367 pages, is a great piece of investigative reporting. It goes in depth into the inside world of U.S. politics and policies. Before the table of contents Suskind chose to put a quote from Thomas Jefferson, "Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government." This quote serves as a good tone for the book. The One Percent Doctrine is not a "Bush" bashing book or something written for shock value, rather a book of information to help the American public. By keeping others informed through investigative reporting Suskind is continuing one of Americas greatest constitutional rights on a time when personal freedoms are being questioned every day.
