Ah, Albert Fish! The Supreme American Sadist! The Inspiration for the cannibalism in Hannibal. A Pervert Extraordinaire who enjoyed sticking pins in his groin and considered the electric chair the "Supreme Thrill". In the realm of Serial Killer Lore, you just can't find many killers as fascinating as this one. He really set the standard for the Dahmers and Cholenko's of the world to follow. And this is an excellent summation of his "career" - written again by the imminently readable historian Harold Schechter. A most fascinating read.

Albert Fish revealed

Harold Schechter brings forth the story of Grace Budd's kidnapping and murder at the hands of Albert Fish with vivid clarity almost to the point that you become nauseated. First half of the book is the setup story of the subterfuge snatching of Grace and her violent death. The second half deals with the capture and trial of Fish and his sexual depravities. Fish maintained innocence of having violated Grace's body sexually, but the other horrors he inflicted upon her remains was just as vile. While on death row, Fish admits to a few other attrocities he performed on other children but was never held accountable or proven on them as his death sentence was carried out in early 1936.

Excellent true crime book! Stephen King could not have imagined the horrors you'll read about!

Deranged is an amazing book in that it is well written and it reads like a novel. It is also a horrifyingly shocking book made all the more terrible because it is the truth!
